Alli Burgess

Alli Burgess is a 22-year-old professional dancer in Los Angeles, California, She specializes in jazz, modern, hip hop and contemporary dance, with a strong knack for performance. She is known for the personality and energy she brings to her dancing and life both in and out of the studio. She recently graduated from the University of Arizona with a BFA in dance, a BA in journalism, and a minor in wellness and movement.

She has worked with Emmy-award winning and nominated choreographers such as Marguerite Derricks, Tessandra Chavez, and Stacey Tookey. She has also worked with other respected choreographers and dancers such as Antonio Hudnell, Jacob Jonas, Michelle Latimer, Michael Williams, Jason Parsons, Akira Uchida, Teddy Forance, Sarah Brinson, and Janaya French. She has assisted for Marguerite Derricks and Tamara Dyke-Compton. 

Her recent performance experience includes works by Antonio Hudnell, Juel D. Lane, Thang Dao, Michael Williams, Tamara Dyke-Compton, Jacob Jonas, and Alex McBride. Hudnell is currently choreographing The Wiz on Broadway while Lane and Dao have choreographed for Hubbard Street Dance Chicago. Dyke-Compton was a dancer in Twyla Tharp’s Movin’ Out on Broadway.

Alli began her dance training in Castle Rock, Colorado at the age of 3 and has been in love with the art form ever since. She trained at Danza Dance Academy and Boutique Dance Academy before moving to the esteemed Michelle Latimer Dance Academy, where she furthered and finished her competitive dance career before coming to the University of Arizona where she trains in their triple track program, specializing in ballet, modern and jazz. She has prior training also in lyrical, contemporary, tap, ballroom, hip hop, pointe and Afrikana movement. 

Her background in journalism allows her to create and collaborate with artists from multiple mediums, writing dynamic previews and reviews as well as creating eye-catching clear visuals through both videography and photography. Her work has recently been published in the Arizona Daily Star and the Daily Wildcat. 

She is passionate about creating a dance community that is accepting of people with diverse body types and experiences. Creating a healthier dance community is something she cares deeply for and hopes to continue to inspire people to get up and dance.
